Possessing immeasurable musical experience, Richard Gow has evolved through the spectrum of sonic genres, landing comfortably in his unique blend of jazzy house that is no doubt born for the dance floor. Raised in the suburbs of London, Richard was heavily influenced by the sounds of the The Beatles, Earth, Wind & Fire and Stevie Wonder. He began his own production career circa 1987, releasing under various monikers on labels including EMI, Rise and Sony. Richard began working as the Rhythm Slaves in 2001; soon after, his Timeslip EP was released on The Rurals’ renowned Peng imprint, attracting attention from DJs like Mark Farina, Larry Heard and Gilles Peterson. Often a collaborative effort of the producer and a group of live musicians and vocalists, Richard describes their collective sound as “jazzy house with a floor feel to it.” Currently residing in the cultural Mecca of Cannes, France, Richard has several projects in the works for Glasgow-based Cordless and Chicago’s Real Estate Records in addition to a fulllength album scheduled for a 2003 release on Deepfunk. |
