Craig Law has been producing in various facets of the music industry for the better part of his adult life. His inspiration and influence is drawn from a spectrum of genres; classic rock, funk, soul, Motown and punk. Craig developed an interest in sound engineering while studying at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, moving on to work at several highly regarded East Coast production studios. In 1999, Craig relocated to Los Angeles and two years later, launched the independent imprint, Deepfunk Records. “It was really just a love for the music and trying to bring something different to the table,” says Craig of his desire to start his own label. “I can honestly say that the vision truly began to blossom with my exposure to the West Coast scene; it made everything come full circle.” The label’s signature brand of urban funk ranges from downbeat grooves to uptempo, dance floor gems. Following a string of successful releases, it is safe to say that Craig has led Deepfunk successfully into the new millennium of house music. |
